🎯 Milestone reached for the HECO2 hybrid plasmalysis project!

After several months of optimisation, the HECO2 consortium has reached an important milestone in the development of its hybrid plasmalysis technology.

One of the project’s key milestones was to demonstrate prolonged, stable and reproducible operation of the demonstrator. This objective has now been achieved with the successful completion of three 8-hour continuous operation campaigns, carried out under the same operating conditions, with the reactor restarted between each campaign without the need for maintenance.

These tests confirmed:
✅ stable and continuous plasma operation;
✅ no fouling of the quartz tube;
✅ the reliable operation of the downstream system, with numerous automatic cycles of filtration and carbon transfer;
✅ the robustness of the automation system, data collection, plasma monitoring via camera and gas composition monitoring;
✅ the demonstrator’s ability to operate with different methane feedstocks (natural gas and mine gas), without affecting its operability;
✅ continuous production of solid carbon under conditions representative of long-term operation.

This success marks a significant step forward in mastering the process and confirms the technology’s growing maturity. The next stages will focus on optimising methane conversion and energy efficiency, whilst continuing preparatory work for future industrial applications 🏭.
