Workshop on Fire Behaviour of Continuous-Fibre Polymer Composites

Scope of the Workshop

Long-fibre polymer composites are increasingly used in demanding applications such as transportation, construction, energy, and mobility, where lightweight design and high mechanical performance must be combined with stringent fire-safety requirements.

However, the fire behaviour of these materials is particularly complex due to the interactions between the polymer matrix, fibres, interfaces, additives, and composite architecture. Understanding and controlling these interactions is essential for the development of safer and more sustainable composite materials.

This workshop will bring together academic researchers, industrial scientists and technology developers to discuss recent advances in the fire behaviour, fire retardancy and thermal degradation of long-fibre polymer composites.

We invite contributions addressing fundamental mechanisms, innovative materials, processing strategies, characterisation methods and industrial applications.

Contributions are welcome on, but are not limited to:

Fire retardancy of long-fibre thermoplastic and thermoset composites
Bio-based composites: matrices, flame retardants and natural fibers
Reactive and additive flame-retardant approaches
Effect of composite architecture, fibre content and processing conditions
Modelling and simulation of thermal degradation and fire behaviour
Recycling and circularity of flame-retardant composites
Ageing, durability and long-term fire performance
Industrial applications and fire-safety requirements
Regulatory and standardisation challenges

Both fundamental and application-oriented contributions are encouraged.
