AQUILA
Start of the project: 01-12-2023
End of project: 01-12-2026
General objective
The AQUILA project responds to a growing strategic need arising from the evolution of armed conflicts, illustrated in particular by the war in Ukraine, where the intensive use of drones has upset the balance of power on the ground. The aim is to develop a new generation of affordable, effective and technologically advanced rockets, capable of intercepting light aerial targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAS), while retaining great flexibility of use in different theaters of operation. These rockets will also need to offer extended range to deal with previously inaccessible targets, while having sufficient accuracy to effectively neutralize the threat.
Materia Nova's missions
Materia Nova is contributing to the project by developing energetic metal fragments, designed to maximize destructive effectiveness against drones while minimizing the risk of collateral damage. These fragments, designed to burn or disintegrate rapidly after impact, enable precise neutralization of targets while ensuring greater security for civilian or sensitive environments.
