Bulk treatment of small parts: an alternative to electroplating
Materia Nova offers plasma-based surface treatment solutions for small parts, as an alternative to traditional electrolytic (electroplating/galvanic) baths. Several technologies are available, each suited to different constraints in terms of size, weight, and functionality:
- Vibratory tray treatment, for a continuous flow of small, lightweight parts
- Barrel (rotating drum) treatment, for large volumes of bulk parts
- Batch (or in-line) treatment, for more targeted series or parts requiring specific positioning
These technologies can treat very small parts, typically between 100 and 300 microns, such as diamonds, screws, decorative studs, gears, or other micro-components for which piece-by-piece treatment or conventional electroplating would not be suitable.
Our experts select the most suitable system based on part size and weight, as well as the desired functionalities (coloring, corrosion protection, reduced friction, etc.).
Another application of these bulk treatment technologies: decontamination and hygienization of seeds and protein powders, to meet the sanitary requirements of the food industry.
