The objective of this project is to develop and promote viable and efficient alternatives to hard chrome plating for the transport and processing industry.

In recent years, effective alternatives to hard chromium applications have been sought because chromium trioxide is toxic and carcinogenic and is therefore subject to strict regulations under REACH. The transport and processing sectors, which are very active in the transnational area, are largely influenced by this uncertainty as to the exact regulations. Although alternatives exist, they do not necessarily meet the specifications or require major adjustments to production facilities.
