In order to meet the growing demand for the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture in the transboundary region, the BioScreen project aims to research and identify new multifunctional molecules of biological origin for the biocontrol of phytopathogenic agents in crops in the transboundary region.

Thus, a high-throughput screening platform will be set up to identify new molecules with antifungal activity and/or inducing plant resistance against phytopathogenic agents. The selected molecules will be tested on different pathosystems controlled within the consortium. The complementary expertise will make it possible to make rapid progress in evaluating the efficiency of the molecules and their potential use in integrated pest management programmes. The study of the mechanism of action of these molecules as well as their impact on non-target agents should make it possible to identify the structural characteristics responsible for their biological activity and thus optimize their application in the field.

Objectives and missions of Materia Nova

In this project, Materia Nova will develop and supply different types of oligosaccharides.

Based on its existing analysis platform and by developing dosing protocols, Materia Nova will characterize these molecules and test the effects of the different molecules studied in this project. Materia Nova will coordinate work module 3, which consists of screening these active molecules on different pathosystems.
