Project

GAZTON

  • Start of the project : 01-11-11
  • End of project : 31-10-13

This project aims to transform the CO2 contained in the fumes of industrial furnaces into a lean gas that can be used as fuel in the same furnaces, without the need to pre-treat the fumes. The transformation is carried out using low-pressure plasma technology powered by green electricity and does not require a major overhaul of the production lines on which it is integrated.

The project studies the feasibility of a process and an industrial reactor, based on cold plasma technologies, for which the main objectives will be as follows:

  • Chemical reduction
  • Production of a lean gas based on CO and H2 and/or hydrocarbon fuels from the CO2 present in the fuel gases of glass and boiler furnaces and use of these lean gases as on-site fuel in conventional industrial burners (Thermal Loop).

Objectives and missions of Materia Nova

Within the consortium, Materia Nova will carry out the development of microwave plasma technology and life cycle analysis.
