NOSENS ; ventilation
Project

NOSENS

  • Start of the project : 01-12-11
  • End of project : 31-05-14

The expected result of the research is the realisation of an almost distributed fibre optic sensor for NO monitoring in large enclosed spaces, mainly road tunnels and enclosed car parks.

The objective is to prevent exposure to excessive doses by continuous monitoring which makes it possible to act on ventilation and possibly on traffic.

Measuring systems do exist but have several drawbacks: they are cumbersome, complex, energy consuming and require wiring, which is itself expensive.

In addition to the fact that fibre-based sensors, unlike existing systems, require little energy, intelligent ventilation control also saves energy.

The final deliverable will be a reliable, high-volume production-compatible fibre optic NO2 multi-sensor that can be used as a demonstrator. In addition, the optical signal processing will of course be integrated into the final deliverable.

Objectives and missions of Materia Nova

Within the consortium, Materia Nova worked on the development of the sensitive layer and the characterization.
