Spectrophotometry / microplate reading

Spectrometry, or spectroscopy, is a quantitative and qualitative analytical method that consists in measuring the absorbance or optical density of a given chemical in solution, at a given wavelength. The more concentrated the sample, the more it absorbs light within the limits of proportionality stated by the Beer-Lambert law.

Advantages

  • Spectrophotometry is used in many fields such as chemistry, pharmacy, environment, food processing and biology. The possibilities brought by this analysis facilitate the analysis of several constituents, by limiting the phenomena of spectral or physicochemical interferences. In the pharmaceutical industry, many tests for drugs are performed by UV-VIS adsorption spectrophotometry. .
