Project

ALLIHENTROP

  • Start of the project : 01-07-18

Metallurgy and the manufacture of metal products constitute a major industrial sector in the Hauts-de-France region and Wallonia, which today must be able to meet the strategic innovation needs of the markets. It is therefore essential to develop new high-performance materials in order to broaden the field of applications towards areas of high added value, while ensuring compliance with increasingly demanding environmental standards.

To meet these expectations, the ALLIHENTROP project proposes to develop high-performance coatings from an emerging class of materials, the high entropy alloys (in French, ALLIages à Haute ENTROPie). These are alloys that contain a large number of metallic elements in similar proportions. Disorder at the atomic scale (high entropy in scientific language) gives these materials unique properties in terms of hardness, friction resistance, ductility, temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. The multidisciplinary approach of the transnational consortium will enable the following objectives to be pursued: modelling, synthesis and shaping of these alloys. Coating in layers of different thicknesses in order to provide functionality to a metal part or to improve its performance with methods compatible with industrial production processes allowing a transfer from the laboratory scale to the pre-industrial scale. Physico-chemical characterizations and performance evaluation

Objectives and missions of Materia Nova

Within the consortium, Materia Nova carries out the deposition of the layers by PVD and the chemical (composition) and structural characterizations.
