Hybrid sol-gel coatings

The sol-gel process is an excellent means of producing transparent or colored hybrid coatings: intermediates between organic coatings and ceramics.

Sometimes called “nonacoating”, “ceramic” or “ceramic-like”, these coatings are obtained under mild chemical conditions, at temperatures lower than those of conventional synthesis routes. These conditions offer the possibility of combining organic and inorganic species to create hybrid compounds with novel properties.

A method particularly well-suited to the production of layers and coatings, for the protection and coloring of surfaces such as glass, metal, wood, paper or plastics.

The long-term stability of our nanotechnology is the key to our success in guaranteeing you a quality product. Our nanocoatings form an effective, long-lasting protective film against external aggressions such as temperature variations, humidity, stains and scratches.

Fillers can be dispersed in sol-gel matrices to give them specific functionalities: anti-fouling, anti-microbial properties, color, thermo-chrome effects, etc.

Why choose Materia Nova?

  • We have a wide range of SOL-GEL formulations that we adapt to meet the specific needs of our customers: customized colors, adapted properties, adapted processing: low-temperature curing (90°C), UV,...) drying time, spray, etc.
  • Thanks to our range of equipment and a multidisciplinary team, our “Analysis and Characterization” department can validate properties (corrosion, scratching, hydrophobicity, anti-fouling, electrostatics, etc.) and provide a detailed report giving a full interpretation of the results obtained.
